As the Chief Sustainability Officer for Greif, Scott Griffin is responsible for the development of the sustainability strategy for the world’s leading industrial packaging company. Scott has expanded the company’s approach to sustainability beyond a focus on environmental impact to include a “sustainability-in-action” program that seeks to develop innovative business solutions to humanitarian challenges such as global water risk issues and to provide sustainability leadership in organizations such as the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
Partnering with social entrepreneurial start-up PackH2O and leading NGOs, such as The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), Habitat for Humanity and Partners in Health, the company has developed and supports distribution of a low-cost, durable water backpack –PackH2O, which addresses the “Achilles’ Heel” of the global clean water challenge – the human transport of clean water from the point of access to the point of consumption in some of the world’s least developed regions including Haiti.
In addition, with the support of organizations such as J/P HRO, CGI and Operation Blessing, Scott and his team have worked to help the people of Haiti recover from the devastation of the earthquake through projects such as developing rainwater catchment systems, supplying much needed steel to steel drum artisans and distributing PackH2O water backpacks. For every donation of $50, 5 PackH2O water backpacks will be donated to people in need.
Scott has been a first hand witness to the incredible work done by J/P HRO regenerating communities and providing education, health and economic opportunities to the more than 60,000 displaced Haitians during the last three years. As an avid runner, he is thrilled to be a part of the J/P HRO team and to further support the efforts of J/P HRO.
