BENEFITING: MADAGASCAR COOPERATIVE FOUNDATION INC
The Madagascar Cooperative Foundation (MCF) is dedicated to the welfare of the Malagasy people by focusing on holistic solutions to create self-reliance. We began by teaching Malagasy families how to square-foot garden. However, gardening alone will not make Malagasy families fully self-reliant.
Eighty-one percent of Malagasys survive on less than $1.25 (USD) a day. Often this is not enough for families to eat three meals, let alone save money to start a business. As a result, people live day-to-day and are unable to rise above their poverty level. This creates a poverty cycle from parents to children.
The next step in MCF's mission to help Malagasy families focuses on economic welfare. By providing small microfinance loans, MCF will create opportunities for Malagasy families to pursue their financial goals. Since the loans ($7.50 to $50 USD) are too small for the banks, this innovative strategy is the only source of economic assistance families have.
Not only will MCF provide loans, but it will provide these Malagasy families tools to use their money successfully. Among these tools are business classes, which are designed to teach families principles to run businesses and manage money effectively. Thus, for the first time, these families will have all the resources and knowledge they need to achieve their financial goals. Eventually helping them bring their family out of the cycle of poverty.
If you believe that every family deserves the opportunity to bring their family out of the cycle of poverty, we need you to join with us. MCF's microfinance loans are part of the solution to help Malagasy families lift themselves out of poverty, and we need your help to make this solution a reality. Just $20 gives two families the opportunity to build a better future. To learn more, visit http://madagascarfoundation.org/.
