As I have told some of you, I will be spending the next year in Tanzania working with an organization called The 2Seeds Network. I am running The Jamestown Half July 14th to help raise awareness and funds for the project but I will be fundraising all the way until I leave in August.
The Magoma Project works to empower youth, community members, and teachers at two schools by developing sustainable agriculture projects that help fund a school lunch program. The Kwata and Kijango primary schools together serve over 1200 kids from ages 5 to 15 most of whom do not receive lunch at school.
My fellow project coordinator and I will work to further integrate the farm and chicken coop into the school curriculum, as well as ensure that the project is able to outlast 2Seeds’ presence there. The goal is to create a model that is economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable, as well as one that can be easily replicated in other communities.
In order for the project to be successful, I must raise $8,000 before I leave. I hope that some of you will help me in reaching that goal. The funds will be used exclusively for our project and a portion will be used for investments in the community that have in the past included seeds, irrigation infrastructure, and the construction of a chicken coop.
If you are interested in development, if you are interested in education, if you are interested in farming, if you are interested in me, please consider donating and helping me reach my goal. You can follow my progress on theofficial blog, onmy blog, and please let me know if you wanted to be added to my email list. (firstname.lastname@example.org)
I'll have some sort of going away festivities before I leave but I will keep you all updated. I want to see everyone that I can.
Thank you for anything you can do to contribute to The Magoma Project.
