The Medical Pledge
Organized by: Zakiya Cush
I created The Medical Pledge after my personal experiences with facing hardships, while a student at The Drexel University College of Medicine. It is my hope that by the time I complete my studies and endeavors as a physician, this initiative would have begun.
The Medical Pledge requires our concerted efforts to work towards an initiative greater than ourselves. People should have financial support for medical bills they cannot cover. Physicians should not have to worry about debts not serviced. Our medical students must not have to rely on loans for survival, when programs should exist to adequately keep us afloat, during our academic years. Too much work goes into the healthcare industry, from all aspects, thus the least we can do is keep our citizens content and those who've studied so hard to help heal them, financially protected.
The Medical Pledge will be developed in stages and the areas we endeavor to reach may be perceived as insurmountable by some, but only a welcome challenge by me, its founder. As the late Steve Jobs said, “Those who are crazy enough to think they can change the world usually do.”
I welcome your support of The Medical Pledge, today.
