The Men Valor Military Academy
Organized by: Dwight Crank
With statics from the Obama Administration, the President has begun an initiative program called My Brother's Keeper due to 52% of young men overall graduation but in Detroit only 20% of Black males graduated in 2009-2010. The Detroit Free Press reported on March 9, 2014 that the rate of African Americans being involved in Homicide or incarcerated was 13 times higher than any other race. These are just a few of statics we pulled to see why this academy is so important to our young black men. According yo www.city-date.com Detroit ranks #6 out of 101 cities for most single moms raising kids. We spoke to numerous of parents especially single mothers, asking if they felt this academy would be an asset not yo only them but of course to other children as well. The parents overwhelming agreed it would be a huge help to our community. We even have the backing of some military veterans, Tuskegee airmen, and any many more that are ready to build these young men up with honor and respect, also while building the community in that area by using an old high school that has been vacant for over 10 years. Other military or all boys academies have been successful in past and we are destined for same greatness inf not better.
