The Miracle Martin Foundation
Organized by: Linda Mangum
I am starting a Non-Profit foundation in honor of my granddaughter Miracle Martin. Miracle was a beautiful little girl born with hydrocephalus a condition that causes your head to expand beyond it's normal size and she only had one valve to her heart when the normal heart has two. Doctors said that she would not live pass 3 months but, yet she lived until she was 5 years old. Miracle had surgery in October, 2008; to have a valve added to her heart a surgical procedure that had never been performed before with a 50/50 chance of survival, Miracle lived 2 months after the surgery. Miracle Martin passed away in December, 2008; she was a beautiful, very happy, loving little girl with a giving spirit and whenever she would see people no matter who it was and no one was a stranger to her she would always say to them "give me a hug"! Young or old she would always put a smile on their faces. Even, today Miracle Martin is remembered by many young and old, just for giving people a hug not knowing the joy she added to that person day. And with that said, in honor of my granddaughter Miracle Martin, I made a promise to myself that she would be remembered for giving hugs and putting smiles on people faces including me. It has taken me a while but, with God graces and hard work I plan to make this foundation work for Miracle and children like Miracle. The Miracle Martin Foundation is being designed with children in mind from all walks of life from disibalities to the less fortunate , I want to help put a smile on their faces, a coat on their backs or a pair of shoes on their feet as well as hope for a better and brighter tomorrow.
