The Urban Assembly Bronx Academy of Letters is a high-achieving public school serving grades 6-12 in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. Our school was founded in 2003 on the belief that students who can express themselves clearly in writing can do better in any path they choose in life. Our student population is chronically underserved; we are situated in the poorest congressional district in the country. Yet thanks to a rigorous academic curriculum, intense college prep support, and tremendously committed faculty and staff, the large majority of our students graduate and go on to college. Our 2013 college graduation rate was 84.7%, compared to a city average of 64.7%!
The proceeds from our fundraisers go to offset the many costs associated with programs that are not covered by the NYC Department of Education, which has been subject to severe budget cuts in recent years.
