BENEFITING: HARLEM SUCCESS CHARTER SCHOOL
Earlier this week I read about the tragic, horrifying death of 4 year old Myles Dobson in midtown Mahnattan at the hands of an abusive babysitter. Sadly, it's not the first time I've read of such senseless abuse against a child. But for a lot of reasons, I'm haunted by Myles' death. The details are beyond grisly. And if you need/want to read about it, this is the latest NY Post story.
The one detail that has stuck with me—and be warned: it will be hard to erase any of the details from your head—is how poor Myles was told that nobody loved him before he died. Even now, that detail just kills me.
I never met Myles, but I'm sure he was a delightful, adorable little boy with a lot of love to give and a lot of love to receive. It pains me he didn't get it. But I'm committed to making sure some sliver of good comes out of this senseless tragedy. So in Myles' memory, I'm trying to raise money for the Harlem Success Academy, which runs 22 amazing schools in NYC that give kids from underprivileged community a top-notch education and a shot at a better future.
Ten bucks. You blow $10 on a sandwich. Let's do this together. $1000 for the Harlem Success Academy in memory of MYLES DOBSON who was most definitely loved. - See more at: http://www.crowdrise.com/MylesDobson/fundraiser/leagoldman#sthash.BRkaGw8b.dpuf
