The mission of The Outreach Center is to assist disadvantaged citizens to rise above their circumstances and improve their quality of life. This is accomplished through our Food Distribution Program, our Community Food Bank program, and our Education and Workforce Development programs. The Outreach Center is a 501 (c)(3), non-profit relief organization providing services to a five county area in Western North Carolina; Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, McDowell, Rutherford and surrounding counties. This area is plagued with record high unemployment rates of 12-15%, high school drop-out rates of 30%, and a workforce with poor employability. These are the conditions which foster hunger and poverty. Tax ID 56-2221575


We promote self-sufficiency through our education and vocational training programs. We also promote the health and welfare of families and individuals by providing free meThe Outreach Center is involved in disaster relief by procuring disaster supplies and also serving as a storage facility and delivery service for disaster supplies including bottled water, emergency blankets, emergency food packs, first aid supplies, and clothing for disaster victims. 

Our specific measurable goals are outlined below:

1.            To address hunger and lack through our weekly Food Distribution Program and our Community Food Bank Program.

2.            To combat generational poverty by offering a different choice to participants.

3.            To increase the overall employability of our impoverished population through education and workforce development.

4.            To provide quality, affordable therapy for individuals, couples and families to break the cycle of poverty and help those in need organize themselves and prepare for a new and better life.
