The path to my Nursing career
Organized by: vanessa romo
I am a single mother of a 4 and 6 year old. At 28 years old, I have been trying to figure out how am I going to take care of my sons. Ever since I had my oldest, in 2008, I knew I wanted to be a nurse. The relationship between me and their father was not a good one. I was verbally and emotionally abused for 6.5 years before I finally left. There was no support from him financially or emotionally. I have raised my boys by myself. Now that they are school ages I am taking a chance and I went back to school. For the first time in a long time, I felt like things were lookin up. My current employer who originally didn't want to work with me and fix my hours at work so I could go to school finally did. Originally they said I either had to work 19 hours at part time or 40 hours at full time. 19 hours was no where nearly enough to help support my son's and 40 hours wouldn't work with my school schedule. Nothing in between was allowed. Then my boss, not the main office, allowed me to work a split shift while making 30 hours a week. This past Friday on August 29th, the main office called and they will no longer be accepting my 30 hours. I either have to work a 6 hours shift that would cut into two of my classes or work 3 hours a day. So, because I had to make the choice then and there, I took the 3 hour a day shift. I have waited for 6 years to get back to school and now with this, I can't quit, but I need assistance to pay bills and take care of my kids. Any little donation will be more than helpful. I am working at this career to give my son's the life they deserve. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any dontation. Thank you.
