THE STORY:

Substance addiction is a growing issue in the United States that impacts millions of people as well as their friends and families. Deaths from drug overdose have been rising steadily over the past two decades and have become the leading cause of injury death in the United States. Every day in the United States, 113 people die as a result of drug overdose, and another 6,748 are treated in emergency departments for the misuse or abuse of drugs. I have lost many loved ones to the disease of addiction and want to help make those statistics decrease.

Patrick Hannigan was the most unique person I've ever met. He was kind-hearted, loving, and optimistic, and to this day he's without a doubt the most amazing person I'll ever have the opportunity to call a friend. Unfortunately, Pat's life was cut short by the disease of addiction in April of 2014. This upcoming July I am running the Presque Isle Half Marathon, and with your help, I will raise money that will go towards addressing the issues of substance abuse, the disease of addiction, and recovery efforts. I want to raise enough money to focus on the areas of education, research, and treatment. The money I raise will be donated in Patrick's name to the Patrick Hannigan Foundation and will help the many Americans that suffer from addiction get the help they need to live a happy and drug free life!
