BENEFITING: ADA CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE
EVENT DATE: Jul 12, 2013
"The Pinballs" is a play being produced by the Ada Church of the Nazarene which highlights the trials and tribulations of children in the foster care system. It is adapted from a story by children author, Betsy Byars. It will be presented at Ada's McSwain Theatre on July 12 & 13 at 7pm, with a special matinee on Saturday at 1pm. We are working with the Dept. of Human Services (DHS) to encourage more people to become foster parents because the number of children in the system are reaching epidemic proportions and there are not enough surrogate families to meet the need. Also, any funds made beyond the cost of the production will be used to purchase school supplies to help the foster kids, many who are residing in Youth Shelters, for the coming school year.
I have the honor of directing and designing this show which will hopefully help alleviate the pressure being felt in the community. While the real issue facing us is the disintegration of traditional families in our area, this is a chance for people with means to step forward to provide a place of refuge for the innocent children caught in this storm of broken relationships. Please, consider how you might be involved and, at the least, come see the show (or help provide for others to see it if you aren't able.)
We are pre-selling tickets for $5 to adults, $3 to students. On the day of performance the cost will be $7 to adults, $5 to students. You can call the Ada Church of the Nazarene at 580-332-5857 for tickets and other information.
