THE REAL EDUCATION LOTTERY: KARMEN'S STUDY ABROAD TRIP
Organized by: Karmen Kurtz
Why give any more money to the state when with only 2 dollars you can win the certainty of black excellence! The real education lottery ™ is a lottery where every person contributes 2 dollars. 1 dollar goes to my study abroad trip in Ghana next semester and the other is a chance for YOU to win big! The goal is 20,000 dollars- in the end 10,000 will go to my study abroad trip and the other 10,000 will go to one lucky winner! Please Share! Remember, even if you don't win the 10,000 you win the warm fuzzy feeling of contributing to the opportunity of a lifetime!
IMPORTANT: Any amount over $2 will go to study abroad fees. Your donation= one entry! Only one dollar will go towards the lottery.
** If we don't raise 20,000 the winner will recieve the final lottery total**
A little about me:
As an International Studies major, it is not only a requirment for graduation but my personal mission to study abroad. My ambition has taken my creative juices from Welche's to a fine wine (But not in an untimely, fermented way!). I know that you all see crowdfunding pages every day so I thought I'd try something new with this lottery! I'm a sophmore at UNC-Asheville, french fry and chipotle connoisseur, and activist. I work as a reasearch assistant for a commmunity health project in Asheville, NC, a graduated youth leader at a non-profit youth empowerment organization, and I'm a supervisor for campus recreation. I've managed to balance my work and extracurriculars and maintian a 3.7 gpa. I'm so looking forward to the unqiue intellectual enviornment at the University of Ghana. In addition to the academic rigor, I look forward to evolving in my understanding of my identity as a Black woman. There’s a certain uniqueness, if not, magic, about living in Africa. A continent that I've only heard stories and read about, and yet, my ancestry is rooted in this land. There is nothing else like it in the world. The opportunity to live and study in Ghana is one that allows me to explore what it means to be me! I can't wait to share my journey of self exploration and academic growth with you all! I'll even share the not-so-blog worthy struggles of chipotle withdrawls.
