Our mother was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1997. As the years went on, and her disease progressed, her doctors questioned this diagnosis and saw that she was suffering from a neurological disorder much more grave than Parkinson's. It was not until the last couple of years that her neurologist said that she exhibited the majority of the symptoms related to Multiple System Atrophy. We watched for years as she continually declined, losing one motor skill after another, until the disease finally progressed to her ultimate demise on December 16, 2015. She had the will to live and continued hope until her final days. So in lieu of flowers, we thought it would only be fitting that we establish this memorial to help understand this debilitating disease in the hope of finding a cure.
