BENEFITING: NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania
EVENT: Over the Edge Scranton 2016
EVENT DATE: Jun 11, 2016
Yes, you can do it; it's not so bad, we promise! You'll join our online fundraising team and get your own profile page plus all the tools you need to share your campaign. Read on for all the details ...
WHO: We are NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania, part of the congressionally chartered National NeighborWorks Network, which includes more than 240 independent, community-based nonprofit agencies serving more than 4,500 urban, suburban and rural communities across the United States. This network is supported by NeighborWorks America, the country's pre-eminent housing and community-development leader.
We believe in vibrant, healthy and sustainable Northeastern Pennsylvania neighborhoods and have been promoting and preserving homeownership for nearly 35 years.
WHAT: We invite you to support us in this extremely exciting, never-before-seen-in-Scranton urban-adventure fundraiser to benefit our elderly, disabled and disadvantaged neighbors who are struggling to keep up with or hang on to their homes.
WHEN: June 10, 2016 (Media/Preview/VIP Day) and June 11, 2016 (The Main Event!) This new-to-NEPA event will take place during the nationally celebrated NeighborWorks Week.
WHERE: The tallest building in Scranton! That’s Bank Towers at 321 Spruce St. (If you’re not from NEPA, yes, Scranton is the “home” of the “Dunder Mifflin Paper Company” a la “The Office.” It’s also Hillary Rodham Clinton’s and Vice President Joseph Biden’s native land. AND it’s where Edith Bunker insisted on vacationing. Remember how old Archie asked what was in Scranton!? Bank Towers, of course, off of which charitable, adventurous people are going to rappel!
WHY? Well, for starters, these people are ALL KINDS OF COOL, willing to escape their comfort zones, slay their fears and just dare themselves to make a difference by doing something completely different. But they also believe in Northeastern Pennsylvania, especially its neighborhoods and the amazing power of neighbors, so they’re signing on to say they care about the future of our local communities.
HOW: Be among the first 92 people to raise (or pay) a minimum of $1,000, and you will secure a coveted spot to go Over The Edge in this, our inaugural event year. (Say loudly and proudly that you did it first!)
