EVENT DATE: Apr 28, 2013
I am running the Nike Women's Half Marathon next Sunday, April 28th in Washington, DC. In the wake of the tragic events that unfolded after the Boston Marathon on Monday, I've decided to turn this fun run into something more meaningful. Though I have moved to DC, I will always be a Bostonian at heart. Marathon Monday is one of my favorite days in my absolute favorite city. I spent Monday morning tracking some of my friends who were running, and remembering many years as a marathon spectator as both a kid and an adult. I am thankful that all of my friends and family are safe, but my heart goes out to those injured and killed as well as their families and loved ones. As a first grader teacher, the death of Martin Richard hit me especially hard. Not only are my students his age, but some of my earliest marathon memories are from my elementary school years. The money that I raise will go directly to the Richard Family Fund that has been set up by MA State Representative Martin Walsh to help the family through this tragic time. For Boston, and for Martin and his family, any and all donations are welcome and appreciated.
