BENEFITING: VISUAL STUDIES WORKSHOP INC
Visual Studies Workshop wishes to honor the memory of Rick McKee Hock by hosting an artist in Rochester each year in his name. VSW will annually select a Rick McKee Hock Artist-in-Residence to receive a month-long residency with housing, studio space, a travel budget, and a stipend. We need to raise $30,000 by the end of the year to make this a reality. Your donation to the Rick McKee Hock Artist-in-Residence Fund will help honor a life devoted to artists and their work. You can also particpate in the fundraiser by purchasing a print in our online auction!

Receive Artists vs. Charlatans, a posthumously produced book of Hock’s satirical drawings that humorously depict artists he favored delivering blows to those he deemed impostors. These drawings were originally created to be funny yet sincere communications to Hock’s partner, Meredith Davenport. Davenport contributes the afterword to the publication.
Donate $300 +
Receive Artists vs. Charlatans, and the book Interrupted Bestiary that pairs poems by Alison Nordström with Hock’s animal drawings. Nordström, an independent scholar, curator, and writer specializing in photography, became close friends with Hock during their tenure at George Eastman House. Their creative endeavor was cut short by Hock’s death in early 2015.
Donate $500 +
Receive both books as well as a 22 x 30 inch reproduction print of a Hock bestiary drawing of one’s choosing.
Please help us honor Rick and his vision by making a donation to the Rick McKee Hock Annual Artist-in-Residence Fund today.
