BENEFITING: RICK PANKOW FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Jun 29, 2014
~~My strength and support comes from my husband, Tim. His constant encouragement, love and support makes the lonely sport of triathlon a wonderful part of our lives!
A year ago, Tim was diagnosed with colon cancer. He underwent several surgeries and months of chemo; fighting hard to beat this! During this time, he endured a lot of pain and suffering but did it all with an optimistic outlook, a smile and incredible strength. It is with admiration that I dedicate my next Ironman race to Timmy, my inspiration! I plan to race Ironman in the same manner he fought his fight with cancer.
Ironman also gives me the opportunity to raise awareness and fundraise for charity. I have chosen the Rick Pankow Foundation (RPF) as my charity. I chose this charity because of the generous support they provide to cancer patients.
During Tim’s fight, our dearest friends, Craig and Peg Pankow were there for us every step of the way, helping us in so many ways. They understood not only the difficulties that families faced, but also the needs as well as the challenges that Tim endured in fighting cancer as Craig had lost a brother, Rick, to Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. In memory of his brother, the Rick Pankow Foundation (RPF) was founded. This foundation was “started in 2001 by friends and family to allow Rick’s legacy to continue in the spirit of giving.” Through the years Tim and I have had the blessing of supporting this incredible organization that provides support to cancer patients.
It is my privilege and a true blessing to race Ironman CDA 2014 on behalf of the Rick Pankow Foundation and my hope that you will support my journey by donating to this incredible foundation! All proceeds will go directly to this Foundation.
