For those of you who do not know me, my name is Kevin (KG) Willson and I am an aspiring marathon runner training for the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC on October 26th, 2014. From the beginning of my marathon training, I realized that I wanted to run this marathon for something bigger than my small goals of getting in better shape. After some hard thinking, I eventually decided to dedicate my run for a dog rescue that is near and dear to my heart, BREW - Beagle Rescue, Education, and Welfare. Most of you who know me know that my family has a 9 year old beagle named Lucy, who is the girl in my life. Lucy is goofy, lazy, adorable, loving, and she is very big part of my family's life.
After we got Lucy my family actively started volunteering with BREW because we discovered that a number of beagles every year are lost or abandoned. Shelters only have so much space before needing to put dogs down, which is where BREW comes to save the day. BREW rescues beagles/beagle mixes and gives them food and shelter for as much time as is needed until the dogs are adopted. BREW also spays/neuters, vaccinates, treats illnesses, and microchips every beagle that comes into the rescue’s care. After a dog recovers its heath, BREW provides foster families to train him or her and eventually finds each beagle a forever home.
BREW depends on volunteers for everything from transportation to fostering and placing these rescued beagles in homes. Caring and feeding for these dogs is neither easy nor cheap. I want to help raise money for BREW because another Lucy (or Snoopy) is always out there looking and hoping for his or her forever home to brighten a family’s life up like Lucy has done for my family. My goal for the next 95 days is to raise the equivalent to $100 a mile, equaling $2,620. Any donation, no matter what amount, is greatly appreciated, so much so, that I will be donating 8% of all funds raised to cover for the 8% that crowdrise.com takes out for running the website. Thank you for your help in achieving BREW’s and my goal!
