EVENT DATE: Nov 16, 2013
Jack Locurcio, 8, was born with a heart defect in April 2005. Due to the amazing care he received (pre-operation, in surgery, and post-operation) from the miracle workers at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), he is a healthy young boy living a completely normal life.
Please consider donating toward the fundraising goal of $500. All funds raised will be donated to CHOP to help them continue with their miracle-making. If you'd like to participate in the run/walk, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Here is some information about The Running of the Pigs:
The first event was held in 2012 and was originally designed as a challenge of endurance and appetite....the runners (pigs) ran 5 miles from Havertown, PA to Clifton Heights, PA to Gaetano's Pizzeria. At the end of the run the pigs and their families enjoyed pizza and sodas. With the level of participation it made sense to turn the wacky event into a fundraiser. It was a great way for my wife, friends, and me to honor our son Jack and anyone else effected by heart issues. A total of $580 were raised for the American Heart Association.
In 2013, the event takes a different shape. Instead of asking the pigs to run 100% uphill for 5 miles, the course will be a relatively flat 5K (3.1 miles). The race will begin and end at a local bar in Havertown, PA. The fundraising goal remains $500, but we're hoping that the overall participation will exceed that of last year's event and will continue to grow in the future.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and we hope to see you on November 16th!
