THE STORY:

“Her heart has stopped,” The doctor said.
“She’s no longer alive, I’m sorry, she’s dead.”

Lindsay and Kenny Gruschow were overjoyed at the news that they were having a child. The pieces fell even more into place when they found out it was a baby girl. They enthusiastically chose a name -- Madison. Already into the second trimester, instead of a heartbeat, they heard the heartbreaking news that no parent expects to hear, “Her heart has stopped.”

Sadly, miscarriage, stillbirth and infant death touches too many families. 1 in 4  pregnancies end in the loss.  It is not openly discussed, an unfortuante secret society, where many families feel very alone and lack much needed support.

That is why All Embrace, Inc. exists. As a Catholic-founded, Christian nonprofit, the mission of Embrace is to embrace families, regardless of religious beliefs, who have lost a child from miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death. Embrace is an act of holding these families close. Embrace is surrounding families with help and support. Embrace is helping families integrate the loss of someone so precious and continue on with life.

The embrace comes in a variety of ways. One tangible way is through providing burial support. Baby Madison was interred in the Embrace crypt at Arlington Memorial Park outside of Atlanta, Georgia, enabling the family to avoid high burial costs and the stress of making arrangements. This service is provided at no cost to the family.

Help us provide compassionate care for those experiencing prenatal and postnatal loss. Your donation helps ensure that no family has to feel alone during their unexpected and overwhelming grief. In memory of Madison, and all of our precious blessings gone too soon, we thank you in advance for your donations and support.

As a tribute to Madison, Lindsay wrote this poem that was read at Madison’s burial:

The day we found out
That our love made a baby
Our hearts became so fulfilled
And there were no more maybes

With each passing day
Our bond grew stronger
I was no longer just a wife
But I became a mother

As your Father and I dreamed
Of what you would be
Boy or girl, we didn’t care
We’re now a family of three

When we first heard your heartbeat
We knew our lives were changed
This tiny life inside me
So much life remained

A precious bond was built
One so hard to define
One we will never forget
Regardless of the time

Every day I walked with you
Felt better than the last
Our time with you flew right by
And it all just seemed too fast

Before we knew it
We received the call
And 3 words changed our lives
“IT’S A GIRL”, our doctor said
And a deeper bond arrived

God has blessed us
With this precious babe
“What shall we name her?”

Her Father said

We pondered shortly
But then it came
We will call her Madison
That is her name

A few days passed
The longest yet
Another sonogram
One I will never forget

“Her heart has stopped,”
The doctor said
“She’s no longer alive
I’m sorry, she’s dead”

Our hearts broke
Into 1000 pieces
What do we do?
Please help us Jesus

Before we know it
Our prayers were answered
But our tears still strong
And future plans cancelled

As we pondered our options
Feeling hopeless and lost
Embrace Ministry entered our lives
And we kept our fingers crossed

You were here for such a short time
6 months yet unborn
We will never be the same
So quickly from our lives, you were torn

Because of this most beautiful ministry
Your dignity was preserved
We are so thankful for your love
On so well deserved

Our love for you will never end
Your legacy will live on
Each day we will dream with you
From dusk until dawn

Thank you for this Embrace we’ve shared
One we will never forget
We will see again, this we promise
But for now, your destiny is set

Because of you, we are more,
Than just a husband and a wife
We are now a Mom and Dad
And we will love you the rest of our lives.

PS. Thank you for your support in helping Embrace uplift families through miscarriage, stillbirth and infant death. Please share with others!
