BENEFITING: Susan G. Komen
EVENT DATE: Nov 15, 2013
3 days, 60 miles. We're determined to fight breast cancer one city at a time by participating in the Susan G. Komen's biggest and boldest event, The 3-Day.
I had been doing the 3-Day since 2005 as crew and walker but I wanted a walking partner and best friend where we could share many 3-Day tears, joy, blisters, and that raw emotion that comes from such a journey. I knew Renee' was my gal. Renee' and my amazing journey began when we saw what an impact a few thousand people can have on raising awareness. We could not ignore the love and selflessness that these walkers, crew and staff emanated while we watched that fateful Closing Ceremony in Michigan back in 2008. I knew I had her when she turned to me and said, "We're going to do this." Since then, we've walked, crewed, and met so many wonderful people along the way, making new memories and experiences we'll cherish forever.
Help us reach our goal as we get back into our fanny packs, sneakers and band-aids for the San Diego 3-Day. Why do we do this? Because Everyone Deserves a Lifetime.
I will be personally walking for my mom who, in 2011 was diagnosed with breast cancer and is a survivor, relentlessly asked me to do the 3-Day with her over and over again. It seems only fitting that I should walk in honor of her.
