THE STORY:

Michelle Tartaglia wrote -

Our team is named “The St. Bernard’s” because we are a group of people that work in the medical field, & our office is located in St. Bernard’s Park Apartment building on Lake Ave. in Rochester.
On 1/21/12 our office was presented with a heart breaking & emotional acute situation that included a young troubled child, & his 2 pitbull type puppies. The puppies & child both were in an unsafe situation, & although we did everything in our power to assist all, our office as a whole felt that all the systems set up to help this child & his animals failed them, and failed us too in a horrible way.
We were left feeling like our hands were tied, frustrated, like we had no voice nor did they, & betrayed by the "system" that we once had faith in.
Much later, we found out the child's needs were eventually addressed, but the puppys fates was unknown to us.....

It was an eye opening & life changing experience for many of us......

On a regular basis in our line of work, we strive to improve the lives of children & their families, but on that day we decided that we can't just wish for change in our community , but we need to do something to implement it! So, as an office we pledged to work harder on taking a more wholistic approach to patient care, & in addition to make a difference in the lives of animals…

You see....something good truly does come out of everything.........

We have done several little service projects in our office to help the under serviced human population in our near by community....
In addition our office has enjoyed taking a bigger part in animal welfare...... MANY times it is our patient population that has ties to the animals in the most need in our community....so this is why we have an extra desire to support PAWS...because in so many cases we are working with the same population of people.....

Since that life changing day for us.....some of us have adopted rescue dogs & cats, some of us have become foster parents for local rescues, some of us volunteer to transport, and so on…....

So as an office we are so exited to participate in such a wonderful event, and support a cause like PAWS that truly touches the lives of the under serviced pet owner population of Rochester, NY & makes a lasting impact on the lives of their animals….it is refreshing to see that this is an organization put in place that takes a wholistic, proactive approach, & begins working at the root of the problem of animal welfare, & and shares our same passion for improving the systems set up in our community to improve the lives of animals, while educating & supporting the humans attached to them.....

Please feel free to join our team! We are a pretty fun, & welcoming group of people, & you don’t have to work in our office to be a part of us…we all have the same goal, and share the same passion for animals.
So let's raise some money!!!!!
