Please help us to help Steve fulfill a miracle and perhaps a final wish in his life..
March 31, 2016
My oldest and dearest friend Steven Grise lives in a small travel trailer in Pahrump Nevada. He has been on hospice for over a year dying of terminal emphysema. He weighs about 100 pounds now. I'm in California, and very poor, so I cannot even afford the gasoline to visit him even though I am only 4 hours away. Steve and I were talking on the phone today for a short time, his heart is broken. He cannot even go outside because he is attached to an oxygen machine and cannot survive if he is disconnected from it. He cannot afford a portable O2 machine and even with the machine, he would be incapable of walking more than 100 feet. I wanted to know if there were some kind hearts out there, willing to help raise the funds to get him a used golf cart and a portable Oxygen machine so that he wouldn't have to spend his last days never feeling the Sun in his face, or a warm breeze or being able to see flowers bloom and the trees sprouting their leaves, trapped within the confines of their tiny travel trailer . A golf cart, with a portable oxygen unit would give his life purpose, hope, and meaning. They would give him a freedom he has all but forgotten. Goldie, his wife, has to do everything for them. all the chores, all of the errands, most of his caring for and everything else, while working full time at the local Shell station in the process. Her friends tell me she cries alone in silence never asking for anything, never complaining. They have no money, as they struggle daily just trying to make it to the next day. Steve needs a lung transplant, but his odds of ever receiving one from medicare are slim to none, they won't even put him on a list. These are really good people with good hearts and kind souls and they deserve at the very least, a little break, a touch of kindness, a spark of hope, or a blessing of generosity bestowed upon their lives. This is my idea, Steve and Goldie Grise have no clue that I am doing this, but I cannot sit and do nothing, I just can't. I came across CrowdRise and read some of the stories and experiences of some of its users. I thought perhaps there was a chance that this might be a way to help my friend. We are nobody special, we're just human beings trying hard to do our best, to do the right things and by trying to be a little selfless for those certain occasions. This is one of them. Please help Steve and Goldie to have a spark of kindness and joy brought into their lives. If anyone deserves it, they do. You can ask anyone in Pahrump Nevada about Goldie Grise, No person can be more committed, more giving, and caring than Goldie. She has been a miracle for Steven in every sense of the term. Please help me to make this one small miracle take place for them. You will be doing something very special for two very special and wonderful people. Thank you Ron Sarvas (Steves oldest and dearest impoverished friend)
