Our primary Outreach effort is The Surfer Kids NON-Profit. As part of this program we provide surf training and travel opportunities to the children of Friemersheim Primary School on a strictly NON-Profit basis.
Friemersheim is a historic rural settlement in the Southern Cape of South Africa. It was established by German Missionaries in the 1800′s and many of the original family lines are still present there. The population is mostly coloured and the predominant language is Afrikaans. The majority of the settlement’s population used to work on the surrounding farms and some still do, but farm work has become scarce and many people have had to leave to find work elsewhere.
Because of its rural location, and South Africa’s history of racial segregation and impoverishment, the children of Friemersheim do not see or experience much outside of their usual surroundings. It is our aim to help them broaden their horizons through surfing and travelling!!!
