The System Failed Her – so looking for small help and donations!
When you think of people who are short on money, or who seek help financially, many times you think of things like they are lazy, they are not educated, they don’t manage their money well, party too much, don’t work hard, looking for handouts, etc. etc. Well this is not the case here.
My best friend, who has no idea I am doing this, is the opposite of needy and is that situation where the system failed her. Where the system should have been setup to help people just like her, and not those that are the above. Where her heartbreaking story about the father of her kids does not help the situation. Where she is educated, busts her butt with 3 jobs, and still can’t make rent or have money left over for groceries. Where her parents are aging and can’t lend a hand, and has no other family to help her.
As a single mother who does everything right to make it work, she should be the definition of when the system should help someone for a short term period. 3 kids and 3 jobs and she can’t barely breathe or keep or head up above water. Her dedicated full time job is 9 to 5, and for the county, so at least she has great benefits. She waits tables at night, and on the side has a 3rd job doing online sales. She has 3 kids, all different ages, all different activities, all different needs – and does it alone. With everything she sleeps about 4 hours a night. On top of everything, her oldest son is having medical issues that they can’t seem to figure out. So let’s just add another layer of stress there.
She technically makes too much money for food stamps, which is insane. But makes too little for any type of loan. And she recently moved to low income housing where her 3 boys all share one small room – just to see if she could take a year and get ahead. Last week she told me she had $30 after bills for groceries – for 3 kids. So of course she is barely eating herself so she can support her children.
Why would a stranger donate money? Why would I do this? This is a great person who deserves a break, just to put her feet on the ground. I am simply trying to gather some grocery money and gas money for her to help her breathe. I am worried about her health, her mental state, her stress, and her livelihood. I can’t believe someone works so hard and enjoys no part of life and is literally cracking doing it alone. I am trying to make her life a little better so she can just smile, which I have not seen in a long time.
I am asking, begging, that every $5 helps. Every small bit will help her and her family, her bills, her kids, and her livelihood. It is more appreciated than you know!
