The Troubles Transformation Training Tab
Organized by: Kat Cree
EVENT DATE Apr 01, 2016
Hey everybody! So, as some of you may know and some of you may not, I am in college with the ambition to ultimately work for World Vision International or another humanitarian organization, saving kids, building communities, and generally trying to save the world. This semester, I am in a Conflict Transformation class, and we are taking a trip to study the ongoing conflict and resolution efforts in Northern Ireland.
Our class will learning about the peace process surrounding The Troubles, attending workshops on the country's healing journey with a grassroots peace-building group, and conduct one-on-one interviews with ex-combatants as part of the learning and therapy processes. We will also be studying the role of the arts in the peace-building process, and I'm looking forward to exercising my talents in writing and music for a great cause. (Those of you who didn't know about my World Vision aspirations probably knew about those, heh!)
It'll be especially cool for me, since I found out recently that some of my ancestors had to flee from that area when things went bad, so this will also be a bit of a heritage thing. Maybe I'll even stop getting mad when people call me "Katie." (Or, y'know, maybe not. You never can tell.)
I (and my classmates) would really appreciate any help that each and any of you would be willing to give. Also, ***tax deductible..... :-) :-D :-D***
