Our Lindy home was flooded in hurricane Sandy and we were displaced for four months. We have moved back in while rebuilding but the apartment in our home that was previously rented to pay bills, is still gutted. We haven't been able to begin the work in the apartment because there are many issues (not covered by insurance) that we have to fix before beginning the reconstruction. We have been told that our flood insurance will be increasing substantially and we need to get the apartment finished so that we can rent it before the flood insurance increases so that we can stay in our home. If we can't rent the apartment we will have to try to sell. The problem is... Who wants to buy a house that has flood insurance premiums of $9,000/year. Thank you for any and all help!
