BACK GROUND OF MATTHEW’S FUND
Taking a critical look at the unmet needs of children on the Liberia refugee’s camp and its environs in term of education, food and other basic needs in the community in which they live. I saw that most parents find it difficult if not impossible to send their children to school due to extreme poverty and other social conditions.
The majority of these people left Liberia due to civil war, ethnic, and tribal conflict and came for safety in to Ghana. Looking at these innocent children and their uncertain future touches my heart and prompts me to seek help on their behalf from civil organizations, and individuals.
With this vision in mind I decided to set up a nonprofit, nonpolitical and religious organization which is known as MATTHEW’S FUND.
The name Matthew simply means “gift from God”. Gifts received to assist the children are truly gifts from God through others.
PUPOSE OF THE FUND
The purpose of Matthew’s Fund is to provide financial resources for children from the ages of three–to eighteen years of age with in the Liberian refugee’s camp and its environs in Ghana West Africa. Funds provided will assist with the ability to obtain an education, by paying their school fees, supplies, and provide them with food.
The children, when assisted, will develop the ability to be empowered through education to help themselves and their parents in the future. Your gifts will also assist children who are not refugees but his or her parents are in extreme poverty and in need of education.
Those assisted will largely be the underprivileged, orphans, disabled and the vulnerable children in West Africa.
As Nelson Mandela once said; “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Victor Hugo, said;“he who opens a school door closes a prison”.
If our communities and societies are to be a better place tomorrow the time is now to open the school door for them providing a better future tomorrow. We should also remember the widows, single mothers, the disable and the elderly who needs food and medication to survive on a daily bases.
