Friends and Family-
I wilI be participating in the 2011 L.A. Marathon on March 20th starting at Dodger Stadium and finishing in Santa Monica.
Last year, I raised over $3,100 for the ThinkCure! Foundation and I am looking forward to adding to that total this year. It is a fantastic organization that works towards curing children and adults with cancer. They fund research programs at City of Hope and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. It is also the official charity of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
I will be running for my close family friend and Handy Group member's 9 year old son, Alec Dilanchiyan.
Alec was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2007 at age 6. His treatment included daily chemotherapy sessions, countless hospital visits, painful shots and spinal taps. Alec is my hero. I am so impressed with his courage to deal with this obstacle along with everything else that comes with growing up. His positive outlook and determination has truly been an inspiration to myself and many others.
Alec loves playing soccer, basketball and golf. His ultimate dream is to become an actor, a chef and own his own restaurant. He said, "When I grow up and open my own restaurant, I want to cook meals and send them to the Hospital for all of the children as well as the doctors and nurses who help get kids like me cured."
I will also be running for people in my life who have been affected by this terrible disease. This list includes: Katherine Rodriguez (Breast/4 years cancer-free), Lori Elegante (Breast), Maria Hernandez (Pituitary/13 year survivor), Valerie Traush (3 time Breast and Bone Marrow Survivor).
Please let me know if you would like me to add a friend or family member to this list.
