Dear Friends and Family,
I am running in the NYC Half Marathon on 3/20/16 in honor of friends and family members who have been afflicted by breast cancer. Over the past few years I have witnessed two colleagues, Liz Tavares and Michele Lussier, battle breast cancer. I am also grateful to know two breast cancer survivers at work, Carolyn Pasquale and Dr. Fran Wills. Watching them undergo chemo, surgery and raditation opened my eyes to the challenges of fighting for one's life. While having to experience the ordeal of all of the treatments, they continued to be dedicated co-workers, good friends and awesome mothers!! As a woman and a mother, I hope to raise awareness about the importance of proper check-ups for early detection and the need to find a cure for this cancer that takes too many women.
I would greatly appreciate your support for this cause; and help save many lives. EVERY dollar counts, thank you for your support!!
Below is information about the charity:
THINK PINK ROCKS wrote -
Think Pink Rocks is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness about early detection of and genetic testing for breast cancer and to provide funding for screening, treatment and research.
Did you know:
• A woman's risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer is greatly increased if she carries the BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation (Breast Cancer gene mutation).
• Men with these mutations also have an increased risk of breast and prostate cancer. Our team will raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.
The money raised for Think Pink Rocks from the NYC Half 2015 will benefit breast cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where Think Pink Rocks has establshed a dedicated breast cancer research fund, as well as at the Breast Oncology Center at the University of Michigan, in addiiton to providing funding for treatment.
Some members of our team have a direct connection to breast cancer, but we also have many team members who are running or walking simply because they want to support a great cause.
Think Pink Rocks is a 501 (c) (3) organization. Contributions to Think Pink Rocks are tax deductable to the extent allowable by law.
Please note - we encourage everyone to join our fundraising team for this great cause. Howevering, joining our fundraising team does not provide you a spot in the NYC Half 2016 unless you have corresponded with and received confirmation directly from our team captain. For more information on how to join our team for the race, please email rich at email@example.com. Thanks for your support!
