BENEFITING: THINK PINK ROCKS
ORGANIZER: THINK PINK ROCKS
EVENT: NYC Half 2011
EVENT DATE: Mar 20, 2011
I, Rebecca Lawson, am running the NYC half-marathon on March 20, 2011 for TEAM THINK PINK ROCKS (Breast cancer team). I am asking everyone if you could kindly donate.
The reason why I choose this organization is that a woman who I love dearly is a survivor of breast cancer. Honestly, I was young when my grandma, Rosemary O'Brien, had breast cancer and feel I should show more appreciation to her. This woman has taught me a lot through my life. One main lesson that she has taught my whole family is NEVER to give up! With that being said I am thankful that she is still here. I hope with my fund-raising we can get closer to a cure.
Information on TEAM THINK PINK:
We are a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness about early detection of and genetic testing for breast cancer and to provide funding for screening, treatment and research. Did you know: • A woman's risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer is greatly increased if she carries the BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation (Breast Cancer gene mutation). • Men with these mutations also have an increased risk of breast and prostate cancer. Our team will raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. All money raised for Think Pink Rocks from the New York City Half-Marathon will benefit breast cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Some members of our team have a direct connection to breast cancer, but we also have many team members who are running or walking simply because they want to support a great cause.Think Pink Rocks is a 501 (c) (3) organization. Contributions to Think Pink Rocks are tax deductable to the extent allowable by law.
