Stuff About Me:


Thomas Dean Kellogg is the Founder/ Director of the Mentor Artists Playwrights Project (MAPP) and of the innovative award- winning multidisciplinary theatre company, fofo, based in Los Angeles. He has conducted theatre workshops in Budapest, Moscow, London, Istanbul, and Javea (Spain) and been a guest artist at the Lincoln Center Director’s Lab West, sharing his innovative philosophy and techniques. He sat on the faculty, at the ABC/ Disney - Institute of American Indian Arts first Native American Film Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico, 2004. For nearly two decades, he has worked with arts, cultural and social service organizations, to bring arts- based literacy and mentored writing programs to marginalized youth throughout North America. Along with developing and delivering his unique mentored playwriting curriculum, Thomas has been intimately involved in all phases of development and production, including mentor training and recruitment, community outreach and development, professional artist recruitment, play production and direction. Kellogg has founded, implemented and led programs in juvenile detention centers, drug rehabilitation facilities, alternative schools, and child residential centers. Over the past decade, he has expanded MAPP’s Young Native Playwrights Initiative, to include over a dozen Reservation and Urban Native and communities throughout the United States and Canada including the Coeur D’ Alene and Nez Perce Reservations, the Alaska Native Heritage Center, the American Indian Child Resource Center of Oakland, CA, and the Native American Youth and Family Center of Portland, OR. As a public speaker, he specializes on the subject of the need for creative education in marginalized communities. He is currently working with a new team at MAPP and consulting with multiple organizations to expand the MAPP model.
