BENEFITING: TIBETAN VILLAGE PROJECT
Karcel radiates joy when she smiles. She is from a village outside of Lhasa, and is currently studying English, Tibetan, and Chinese with the aspiration of becoming a teacher. Karcel’s family members are nomadic yak herders, and her father is ill, so they have had little opportunity to earn money to support their children’s education. The family only had enough money for one child, so Karcel was unable to attend school until she was 17 years old – after her older brother graduated. She has worked hard and is determined to obtain an education. Currently, she is 25, in college, and also attends a language institute. She desires to assist her fellow Tibetans in the future through the power of education.
Tibetan Village Project provides scholarships to Tibetan students, just lke Karcel, who attend colleges and universities in Tibet. Based on need and merit, TVP selects students and finds generous individuals who contribute annually through one-on-one sponsorship.
Sponsor a college student for a year by contributing $75 a month, or $900 annually or making a general contribution to this campaign today. This covers 90% of the tuition in most colleges and universities, including Tibet University and Kangding Teachers’ college, for one year.
