Hi - I'm very excited to announce that the Texas Irish Cycling Team has officially launched it's Texas Irish Foundation. I initially joined the team because I loved to ride but once I joined it became so much more than about bike riding. We are helping so many people in need not only through our dollars raised but also through our time and actions. I along with several of my teammates are founding Heros for the Genesis Women's Shelter and have given our time and money to put a stop to domestic violence. Last year we gave Emily Penn, who suffers from Friedreich's Ataxia, a recumbent bike so she can join us on our annual Friedreich's Ataxia ride. I hope you'll take a moment to look at the video I've posted with my site. When we presented her with the bike there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
Please take a moment to read about all the worthy causes we are suporting through our charity. I would greatly appreciate your donation as we look to raise $175K in 2013. Many thanks, David
Started by members of the Texas Irish Cycling Team in Dallas, TX, the mission of The Texas Irish Foundation is to support, through donations and our active involvement, those charitable organizations about which we are passionate: women & children in need, medical research for debilitating diseases, the homeless and those men and women who have served in our country’s armed forces.
The Texas Irish Cycling Team is recognized as a tight-knit, well-organized and team-first cycling club. However, our proudest achievement, that is less well-known, is the priority the Texas Irish and its sponsors place on fundraising for charitable causes. The Texas Irish was founded on the principle of being active in and giving back to the communities in which we live. Since our founding in 2006, members of the Texas Irish Cycling Team have raised over $400,000 for charity.
100% of the money raised by our fundraisers in 2013 will be given to the charities listed below. The Texas Irish Foundation's goal for 2013 is to raise a minimum of $175,000 for our charities:
- Passion for Children's - Children's Medical Center of Dallas
- Genesis Women's Shelter
- National MS Society
- Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America
- Center for BrainHealth
- Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance
- Wounded Warriors
- The Bridge - A Homeless Recovery Center
- Humane Society of Dallas
- The Peruvian American Medical Society
The Texas Irish Foundation operates free of overhead or administrative costs of any kind. Any and all incidental, maintenance or professional expenses associated with the Foundation will be borne by the Texas Irish Cycling Team and paid from membership dues and team sponsors. Accordingly, 100% of all donations raised by and for the Foundation will go to our identified charities.
On behalf of all the members and sponsors of the Texas Irish Cycling Team and its beneficiary organizations, we are incredibly grateful for your support and your generous donation to the Texas Irish Foundation. Thank you!
