I have grown to love running, but I was not too sure if I ever wanted to run a marathon. After a few friends talked to me about their past experiences running the Chicago Marathon as part of a charity fundraising team though, I was convinced! Now I am excited to train for and run my first marathon, and I am especially proud that it will be benefiting Chicago HOPES for Kids! My company, ESD, partnered with Chicago HOPES for Kids this past year as the benefactor of our annual charity fundraiser, Golfing for Good. I am excited to continue partnering with them to further their work in a niche of our society that I am so passionate about.
Chicago HOPES for Kids is a non-profit organization providing homework help and literacy support to children in Chicago's homeless shelters. Chicago HOPES is working to break the cycle of poverty and make sure that every kid has a chance to succeed at school and in life.
Homelessness, youth services, and education are three very important and very delicate issues in a large and diverse city like Chicago, and I have such a heart for the youth and the homeless in Chicago. Poverty really does create such a vicious cycle, and the best way to break that cycle is to target children and youth to show them their potential by giving them the attention and assistance they need to help them breakout of the low expectations that are placed on their lives by our society. The kids that are impacted by Chicago HOPES for Kids have access to academic resources that are not typical to homeless youth, and with increased fundraising (your donations!) they are able to reach more and more families, over 100 children currently!
I hope you will partner with me to give the kids at Chicago HOPES for Kids a fighting chance to live up to their full potential through academic and cultural achievement.
