BENEFITING: International OCD Foundation
EVENT DATE: Jun 06, 2015
For a year now, I have been working as the Membership Coordinator at the Internaional OCD Foundation - a donor-supported, membership-based nonprofit serving a broad community of individuals with OCD and related disorders, their family members and loved ones, and mental health professionals who treat and research OCD and related disorders.
On June 6th, I will be traveling to Sacramento, CA to help our Affiliate OCD Sacramento at their 2nd Annual 1 Millions Steps 4 OCD Walk. On the same day, the International OCD Foundation will be hosting the 3rd Annual Walk in Jamaica Plain, MA and our Affiliate OCD Georgia will hold their 1st Annual Walk in Atlanta. The 1 Million Steps 4 OCD Walk is the first grassroots visibility and fundraising campaign to spotlight OCD on a national level.
Our Inspiration: In 2012, Denis Asselin walked over 500 miles — or roughly one million steps — from his home in Cheyney, PA, to Boston, MA, in memory of his son Nathaniel. Nathaniel took his own life at just 24, after a long struggle with severe body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) and OCD. To carry on this tradition, the 1 Million Steps 4 OCD Walk was created the following year in the same spirit of raising awareness, funds, and hope.
A donation on this Crowdrise Fundraising page will directly support the efforts of the IOCDF and our affiliate OCD Sacramento. Your support is greatly appreciated!
