Hi friends and family,
Natalie here. Every September, I see the Stephen Siller Tunnels to Towers run outside of my living room window. A line of firefighters hold large pictures of their fallen comrades from 9/11, while firefighters and civilians retrace the last steps of Stephen Siller's life to the World Trade Center. He lost his life on 9/11 after strapping on his firefighter gear, and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers.
I was not living in New York during 9/11, but I've watched my children grow and play in our living room with the World Trade Center in view. Knowing Stephen Siller's story and seeing this moving run every year, with the Freedom Tower in our backyard, has left a profound imprint on my memory.
"The run and walk event pays homage to all first responders who made, and continue to make, extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty." Your donations go to Building America's Bravest, a foundation that builds "smart homes" for our most catastrophically injured service members returning home. Knowing air force veterans that are near and dear to my heart, I find this foundation extremely moving.
Any amount helps support a phenomenal cause and is greatly appreciated. One of my best friends, Alix, will be running too. My dad will also be flying in from Austin, Texas to run with us, and Justin, the kids, and Dilley, will be cheering for us on the sidelines. We are so grateful to be given the chance to be a part of such a moving run and with your help, we are able to give to an organization that we really believe in. Thanks so much for you time. :)
