Time Dollar Housing for the Homeless

Time Dollars Community Network LLC is planning to purchase abandon houses in each state and turn them into renewable energy apartment complexes for the homeless. We will build 250 units per complex and charge a small monthly rental fee and 25 Time Dollars a month. Each tenant will receive the required training and will have a maximum stay of 3 years to help themselves become productive citizens in society.


Each person will be required to become a member of Time Dollar Community Network. The cost is free and provides free services to its members. Each member provides a service to another member on the Time Dollar Exchange and receive one Time Dollar for each hour of service provided. For example, a senior citizen on the Exchange wants yard work done, a member does her yard work and takes 2 hours to complete the job. Two Time Dollars are deducted from the senior citizen's account and added to the member's account. As the Time Dollars accumulate they can save them for their monthly payment and spend them on services needed. We have a lot of talented people out there with valuable skills to contribute and this will give them a chance to utilize their skills in the community. That's 25 hours of community service a month!!! Anyone in the home can contribute to this fee. For example, if there are 5 people in the home, each person can contribute 5 hours of service on the Time Dollar Exchange and give that as their monthly payment.



Time Dollars Community Network will provide training to help each tenant become productive citizens. All tenants will be required to attend a 6 month training session. Training will include home economics, up keep of home, cooking and nutrition, mental health counseling, reading and writing, basic computer training, and construction in renewable energy housing. We will grow our own food and teach each tenant how to plant seed, water the crop, pick food, and how to perserve the food for winter months.



A maximum stay of 3 years will be given to each tenant. During the first 6 months each tenant will go through specific training for their particular needs. After 6 months an evaluation will be conducted to determine if the tenant can stay on for the maximum 3 year period. This will give them enough time to prove they want to help themselves succeed in the future. A program will be created for tenants to earn Time Dollars while they learn how to build new homes. This will give them a new skill they can use to get a job and teach them self suffiency to help them sustain their way of life.



Our mission is to help homeless people and people coming out of prison to succeed in life without governmetal assistance and reduce the rate of people returning to prison. We need at least $1 million dollars for start up costs. The property is $250,000, the demolition will cost $100,000, the constructioin labor cost $150,000, not including building materials. We will make money from rental fees in the future to be self sustaining but we need help to get it started.
