One of the best parts of my day is my family walks with my wife and our dog, Yuki, in the park. It's a pleasant break from the broken glass, garbage, concrete and noise that fills New York City. It takes time and money to preserve urban parks in New York, beaches in Cape Cod, and expansive National Parks in the American West, as well as all the various species that live in those places.
This Sunday, just a few days from now, I will be participating in my third triathlon only this year I am doing it for a cause. I am running for the environment and raising money for the National Resource Defense Council:
NRDC is the nation's most effective environmental action organization. We use law, science and the support of 1.3 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things.
With the support of our members and online activists, NRDC works to solve the most pressing environmental issues we face today: curbing global warming, getting toxic chemicals out of the environment, moving America beyond oil, reviving our oceans, saving wildlife and wild places, and helping China go green.
The Nautica New York City Triathlon is just over 50 kilometers long – 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, and 10 km run. Please help by pledging 10 cents per km ($5) up to $10 per km ($500). Any donation is greatly appreciated and all the money will go to the NRDC and will help preserve our natural environment for years to come. I only need $60 to reach my goal of $1000 so please help! Thank you!
