BENEFITING: Jesuit Volunteer Corps
EVENT DATE: May 08, 2012
I am a very fortunate person, and have many blessings in my life. I am grateful for my family, my friends, my health, my job... I have much to be thankful for.
I've also had many great experiences in my life - and a highlight of my life, and a very formative experience would be my time as a Jesuit Volunteer (Helena, MT. 1994 - 1995).
Already lucky enough to have had my life blessed by my experiences as a student of two Jesuit schools (Strake Jesuit & Spring Hill College), my year of service in The Jesuit Volunteer Corps was an extension of my learning, and an opportunity for me to put the lessons I learned as a Jesuit educated student to practice in real life.
Living with five other people I had never met before, we made life-long friendships, bonding over our shared experiences and our new life living by the four values of The Jesuit Volunteer Corps - Community, Simple Lifestyle, Social Justice, and Spirituality. I am very proud to say that I'm a former Jesuit Volunteer and "Ruined for Life".
It's an important organization to me for many different reasons. For my birthday, I'd like to give back to an organization that gave me so much: for the people that the Jesuit Volunteers serve, for the current volunteers serving their year of service, for the organization of The Jesuit Volunteer Corps and the work they do in placing volunteers with all the great agencies working for peace and justice, and in gratitude for the Jesuits, and the ways they have shaped and formed my life.
I'd be honored if you joined me in supporting The Jesuit Volunteer Corps as part of my birthday celebration. You can do that now by clicking on the "Donate" button above. It's a quick, easy, and secure process.
There will of course be a party to go along with this celebration. Two parties infact. I hope you'll be able to join me for my birthday celebration lunch on Thursday, May 3rd, or for a party on the evening of Tuesday, May 8th.
You can also check out the birthday video about what's planned and all the info on the parties.
