HERE'S THE STORY:
On May 31st I'm heading to Colorado to take part in an event that will fuel my mind with positive energy and thought provoking revelation as well as nourish & challenge my body through strenuous physical activity that will test my emotional fortitude. This inspirational event most importantly is designed to help financially support a friend's charity called No Barriers and Soldiers to the Summit.
My Goal is to raise $1,000.00 to take part in this event. I would appreciate your help in supporting these worthwhile charities. Please Donate whatever you can to assist me to reach the top!!!
Thank you for your support!!!
Here is more information about the Organizations that will benefit from this Event:
No Barriers USA is a nonprofit organization that empowers modern day explorers to better understand the infinite potential that lies within themselves. We provide innovative and transformative experiences that help people to climb higher, dig deeper, and go further in their life journeys. In the process, we build a community that embraces a "No Barriers" mindset, where obstacles become opportunities through a greater understanding of ourselves and the infinite power of the human spirit.
Soldiers to Summits (S2S) empowers veterans to overcome barriers and reclaim lives. S2S programs permanently impact lives by helping disabled members of all military branches tackle personal challenges. In S2S, mountains serve as both metaphor and training ground for stretching goals, building world-class teams, innovating through adversity and stepping up to lead and serve others. Our program integrates with the rehab process and helps soldiers restructure how they approach their past and future. Through the S2S experience, we provide veterans with camaraderie and support systems they can depend on.
The first S2S expedition took place in 2010, when Erik Weihenmayer, the only blind person to climb each continent's highest mountain, and his Everest team led a group of disabled soldiers to the summit of Lobuche, a 20,100- foot peak in the Himalayas. Team members' disabilities ranged from amputations and blindness to traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress. The S2S Lobuche expedition was a tremendous success, with seven out of 10 soldiers reaching the summit. A year later, the entire team continues to work together to inspire others-soldiers and civilians alike.

At No Barriers, even our fundraising events encourage you to get outside and have a transformative life experience! Join us for our 2nd annual What's YOUR Everest Challenge on June 2-3 in Leadville, Colorado for a climb of Mt. Elbert, the tallest peak in Colorado. This inspirational event encourages you to discover the fact that what's within you is stronger than what's in your way.
I will be joined by Erik Weihenmayer, the only blind man to reach the Seven Summits, wounded soldiers from our 2012 Soldiers to Summits program, other members of the No Barriers community as well as members of Weihenmayer’s historic Everest summit team. A kick-off dinner and reception on the evening of June 2nd in Leadville will immerse you in the No Barriers mindset, leaving you believing in the power of the human spirit to transcend all barriers.
The climb and dinner is open to anyone who donates $500 or more to No Barriers by May 30, 2012. If you've already donated that amount to No Barriers in 2012, you're welcome to join us too! If $500 is out of your donation range, but you'd still like to participate, we encourage you to get pledges from your friends, family and colleagues to reach the $500 goal. We've even set up a Crowdrise page for you to get going: www.crowdrise.com/whatsyoureverest.
