Truancy Intervention Project Georgia ("TIP") is a drop-out prevention agency operating in Fulton County since 1991. TIP partners trained community volunteers with children in the Atlanta and Fulton County Public School Systems who are chronically absent from school and, as a result, either become involved in the juvenile court or are referred for early intervention at the school level.
The boy in the photo is one of our students, and a child who will benefit from any amount you give here today. Like most of our kids, Marcus* was smart and wanted to do well in school but his family’s troubles were getting in the way. Thanks to TIP and one of our remarkable volunteer advocates, Marcus was able to get the resources he needed in order to be in school every day and avoid the negative repercussions that so frequently accompany dropping out of school.
This year, TIP will celebrate its 25th year of service in Atlanta and will likely serve its 10,000th at-risk child during the 2016-2017 school year. Our goal is to raise $25,000 so we can invest in the next 25 years of helping deserving children, like Marcus.
