As many of you know, I am on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women’s Network. This charity is important to me and I’ve chosen to commit my free time to helping to make it stronger because we should never accept the level of violence that occurs daily to men, women, and children.
The Network is a membership organization that provides centralized resources to the amazing domestic violence service providers in metropolitan Chicago. The Network is the leading advocacy voice for the service community, speaking out about barriers that survivors face and appropriate treatment of those seeking peace. The Network also holds professional development trainings for those providing services and/or interested to know more. Last year, 1,247 people receiving training through The Network’s Centralized Training Institute (CTI). Network staff members also run the State of Illinois Domestic Violence Help Lin, which is a confidential, toll-free link to domestic violence services available throughout the state of Illinois. Your donation supports these programs and many other agency projects that provide capacity building resources for service providers, easier access to life change among survivors and their children, and numerous community education efforts.
The Network can use all of the support that we can provide, so I have made it my goal to raise $1000 during our Contributions Toward Solutions: Board of Directors Fundraising Competition. I am matching every dollar my friends/family/enemies/secret admirers donate. Please, consider helping me win our friendly competition and raise some money for a great organization along the way.
Thank you for your friendship and support. I know that with friends, relatives, and colleagues like you, we can work together to support survivors of domestic violence and those that provide them services!
