ORGANIZER: TITLE IX GIRLS RUNNING CLUB INC
EVENT: 2016 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 18, 2016
My mind moves 1,000 times faster than my legs ever will. I don't run fast, I don't run slow, I run just right. Just right for me. I'm at my best when I'm running. I know this because running is the quickest way I get to feeling whole, free and alive.
Each race is different, but the distance gives me the same. It means 26.2 miles of making friends with the strangers around me. I get to feel those intense and exhilarating emotions; panic, peace, excitement, focus, relaxation, all in heavy rotation.
I find muscles in my body I didn't know I had, all giving me a fresh jump when it starts to get hard. I feel my engine change gears, my inner beast perks up, my personal best realized. I embrace all of it; in all it's chaotic glory.
Running fuels me, and gets me to the life's finish line, every time. It's a metaphor for the fight to face every painful, and unpleasant situation life can throw.
And, when it's over, I can't wait until the next time I can lace up again.
Join me in support of self-awareness and life skill building for all girls. This world can be a touch place to be, girls need the skills to navigate.
