BENEFITING: ADAMS STREET FOUNDATION INC
A few years ago I was invited to meet with some high school students to talk about my experiences in school and my professional life. Those students attended the Urban Assembly School for Law & Justice (SLJ). SLJ is a public high school, in my home town, Brooklyn, which lends a helping hand to at risk students. What makes this school so special? It looks for and accepts kids who are behind academically and testing below grade level and works with them to not only improve their academics but to give them the confidence to believe that they can achieve even more. Ninety percent of the kids who come into this school program graduate and go on to higher education. Over SLJ’s ten year history that’s literally hundreds of children who have an entirely different, brighter future because someone believed in them and devoted their time and energy to helping them.
This year I was asked to join the school’s Junior Board and help devise and participate in fund raising efforts to make sure this valuable program can continue. Part of that effort is spreading the word and asking for your help. If you can, please consider making a monetary donation to this worthy cause. Your dollars will be used for tutoring, internship programs, application fees and more. Any amount is helpful and appreciated, but please do not feel obligated to give. If you are interested in donating your time and energy please contact me and I will happily put you to work. Lastly, if you know of anyone who might be interested in supporting this worthy cause please feel free to forward this e-mail on to them.
