THE STORY:

Hello! I recently completed my first year of teaching middle school English, and I need your help to make the second year better than the first. This fundraiser is about supporting student growth in Louisville, Kentucky. Help me build a classroom library!!

One of the major elements that contributes to an adolescent's appreciation for literature (a big word which includes biographies, newspapers, graphic novels, etc.) is an abundance of options--tons and tons of various texts to choose from. Naturally, a library offers that possibility, but there is also such thing as a "classroom library"... The classroom library is readily available for any extra minutes during class, it's personable, and, most importantly, if I know what is in there, I can make the best possible recommendations for each individual student.

Help me build a PHENOMINAL classroom library! Each selection I make fits my students' interests and inherently challenges them to become better readers.

So far, this fundraiser has purchased the following:

“15 Fantastic Stories” by Roald Dahl (Phizz-Whizzing Collection)

Graham... I would like to purchase "The Giver" for your library. Your passion is the best gift that you can give. As Lois Lowry writes, "It's the choosing that's important, isn't it?"... With love, Bats 3 years ago
