$15,000. That's how much we want to raise to close the wage gap in Washington State between women and men. When we look at the wage gap not only for women but among women, the problem only deepens. Here are the facts:
On average, women in Washington State earn just $.78 to the dollar
African American and Native American women earn $.60, while Latina women earn $.46 to the dollar
If we closed the gender wage gap today, we would add $11.2 billion to the Washington economy
If we do nothing, the wage gap will not close until the year 2071
Imagine what we could achieve as a state if together we decided to close the wage gap. Our economy would be stronger, our communities would flourish, and all women and girls would be on the path to thriving.
This is why we, the Women’s Funding Alliance Together Equal Network, have come together to raise awareness about the wage gap in Washington State and put our dollars to work on closing it. Our goals is to raise at least $15,000. Every contribution will accelerate Women’s Funding Alliance’s mission to advance leadership and economic opportunity for Washington’s women and girls, and together, we can get "her" equal!
From January 29, the 7-year anniversary of the signing of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, through March 8, International Women’s Day, we will be leading this effort to create lasting change for the women and girls in our state. We are asking each of you to say “Yes!” and join us in this effort.
It will take just 100 women raising $150 each to get us there. Won't you be one of them?
Women’s Funding Alliance envisions a world where all women and girls have the opportunity to live, lead and thrive. Our mission is to advance leadership and economic opportunity for women and girls in Washington State. We accomplish this by making the case, driving solutions and mobilizing people to make change.
