To Girard, With Love
Organized by: Girard 2015
On Tuesday May 12th, we discovered that our home was robbed. To make it even scarier, one person was home (asleep), but thankfully unharmed. The police report outlines that we lost 9 laptops, speakers, cameras, an external hard drive, a suitcase, some jewelry, cash/loose change, and a 1 liter bottle of tequila. We think that this loss is about equal to $10,000 dollars but we are not expecting to raise $10,000 dollars.
UPDATE: THANK YOU
Dear Community Members:
A few weeks ago, a considerate alumnus sent an e-mail requesting assistance in a campaign to financially assist those of us in the Girard Bayit in DC that were robbed of thousands of dollars worth of electronics and other items. We are blown away by the generosity that this community has shown.
Thank you to everyone who donated any amount of money, reached out to donate a computer, or kept us in your thoughts. Thank you to Avodah alumni, staff, and current corps members (here's to you NYC!) who supported us financially and emotionally. Thank you to those who listed names and/or service years and to those who donated anonymously.
Although we are sad about ending our Avodah year, we are all excited and humbled to join this supportive, generous, and caring alumni community.
With gratitude and love,
Girard Bayit, DC
For the record, this fundraiser is not raising money directly for AVODAH: The Jewish Service Corps. It is money going directly to the Girard AVODAH DC Corp members.
