Tom wants to help his family
Organized by: Thomas Winchester
Thank you for reading my story! I am a male, 61 year old retired teacher. I am looking to raise funds to help my family. I am single, never married person that adopted two special needs children. My oldest, now 23, was adopted at age 5. He has RAD. His behavior was a challenge for all that delt with him. I took him to many special health care workers. Lots of money was spent. When he was 15, he got into trouble with the law. He is still fighting for his freedom. Again, lots of money spent. He is now married and have a wonderful year old son. My son is a very good parent and loves being dad. Their first son died at age 6 months due to crib death. They were at my house at the time. I gave him CPR for 30 min. until help came. I think this was the worst day of my life. Again, much money was spent. My other adopted son is now 19 years old. He is a student at northern Michigan university. His first parents were into drugs and other bad things. He was six years old and had many learning problems. I spent most nights helping with his homework....lots of tears! He is now having trouble paying for his education. In 2008 I lost much of our money in the stock market. Last winter I found out that I have cancer. Surgery went well.....again lots of money spent. Now I am about to sell the house I have lived in for 30 years. I am under water on my car loan. This car has 120000 miles and I am only half done paying for it. We live in a rural, isolated area and a good car is your life line! I live in Amish country and taxi them to places they need to go. One Amish neighbor needs to have rides to sell his maple syrup at a farm market two hours away. I just can't say no. He is about to loose his farm and land. He has four children, the oldest is 9. He works hard every day and still can't make it. My money, goes to my children. I would like to see my youngest graduate from college. Thanks for reading this.
